Behind the scenes ….. I liked the “making” of this commercial more than I liked the commercial .. what did you think of this commercial? What do you think of their new song? Do you have a Garmin?

You know the ones .. two or more people are driving in a Volkswagen, talking about something or other, and all of a sudden another vehicle jumps in front and there is a huge car smash-up … The basic idea (I think) that these commercials are trying to say are .. Sure .. Accidents happen .. but look how safe you are if they happen in a Volkswagen

Well .. I was there watching one of these T.V. commercials and .. (sorry – this is how HART’s mind thinks sometimes) …

WTF? Did they just switch the passenger with a Dummy? Geesh! The clothes didn’t match!

So, naturally … I pointed this out to my wife, who was totally oblivious to what I was trying to say ..

Don’t you find it odd that this advertisement is trying to tell you how safe it is in a crash, and then put a dummy in the front seat and be in an accident?

Well – obviously she didn’t think it was strange, and an argument pursued. For instance, “What do you think they would do, hire actors and then crash them in a car?”

Exactly.

What else is the purpose of this ad?

To me – I would wonder if people driving Volkswagen were talking and not paying attention and being a danger or menace to society .. and certainly try to stay out of the way. Also, in times of real accidents, I have no time to switch my passenger (be it my wife, friend, or other person) with a dummy crash person .. just how do I know that this car is really safe anyway?

I didn’t like the commercial.

My wife thinks HART’s Crazy! Safety is a big issue for cars, and thought the ad was 100% effective.

Hmm. MMMMmmmmmmmmkay then.
