Voter turnout was near an all-time low, with 171,395 votes cast on Wednesday — about 38 per cent of the 450,000 registered voters in the city. In the 2002 civic election, 48.7 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots.

THE REASON THERE WAS A LOW TURNOUT BECAUSE NOBODY KNEW WHERE TO VOTE OR WHEN TO VOTE AND FELT THEY WEREN’T ON ANY REGISTERED VOTER LIST YOU IDIOTS.

I wish I could afford one of the top of the line models of the IPod - But, I refuse to buy something that seems to be obsolete every two months (or rather there is a better model invented every two months) .. When I surf blogs and find podcasts with the .mp3 I listen to it. If I find podcasts that only offer the ITunes download - I pass and do NOT listen to it nor will I bother. Although, I do have ITunes version 7 installed on my computer .. I was quite disappointed with it over my MusicMatch for music or RealPlayer or Quicktimes for movies.

I’m OLD SCHOOL I guess! I cringe at my cousin, who last XMas purchased himself a Video IPod for about $500 .. although, I secretly am waiting for some SUPER CELL PHONE that has everything .. video, mp3 player, speakers, cell phone abilities (of course), with a comfortable attachment that I can have to carry on my belt and be able to remove it easily to answer phone calls before it reaches my 4 ring limit and when my call answer picks up …

It used to be simple. I had Norton Anti-Virus, “Professional Version”. It was great. I renewed it every May, and got the upgrade. I felt safe. I felt virus-free. The subscription covers 3 networked computers, and I only had 2 desktops.

But then .. I got a 3rd laptop and a wireless router. Norton Internet Security took over my computer, and ate my Norton Anti-Virus subscription. Now, in November .. my anti-virus subscription had expired.

This is both a “RANT” and a “RAVE”

I believe I was one of the lucky ones growing up .. I always had a cottage to go to .. at least up to my 16th birthday anyway .. and also had friends and relatives with cottages since. My parents first had a cottage at Caddy Lake, which is located just before West Hawk Lake and Falcon Lake near Manitoba and Ontario Border. We had a trailer in the Green Bay Resort area. Our next cottage was over at Jessica Lake, also in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, near White Lake and Brereton Lake.

We loved the water, and had boats, canoes, a dock, water skis, diving board, and a cliff about 20 feet high that we used to jump off into the 5 ft water below! It was great. We were all great swimmers and skiiers. When I say “WE” .. I mean my two brothers and myself. We loved to water ski and drive boats. And, my father sacrificed a lot in those days. Our cottage was about 2-1/2 hours away from our home, and he would only come on the weekends, Friday night, and leave late Sunday night. My mom and the three sons would stay out there all summer, at least.

Geez .. I hate the way “THEM” / “THEY” play with our minds at the gas pumps. Two weeks ago, the price of a litre of gas was $1.189 CDN. It was higher four weeks ago just before the Long Weekend of August. Now, the price has been slowly declining to $1.049 CDN per litre. That’s before the ’standard’ $0.035 discount everybody gets if they have a gas club card.

* My gas tank still has a quarter of a tank of gas in it
* We will be travelling by car this upcoming Long Weekend (it’s our anniversary Thursday)

At the beach there are about 5-6 bikes that range between 20-40 years old - mostly girl bikes. Not one supports me, my weight, my height and general disposition of enjoyment in riding bicycles in a beachy gravel-road area that has hills and inclines!

Ugh .. not to mention that everytime we go out to the beach the tires go flat, and you have to manually pump air into the tires. How sick is that?

In the past few days we have been having really nice weather .. reaching about 30c during late afternoon. Yesterday around 3:30pm it suddenly got black all over the city and we all had about a torrential rainstorm that lasted maybe 10 minutes, drizzled for another 20 minutes, then stopped and cleared up.

That’s how the rain has been off and on for the past two weeks.

It’s the Victoria Day long weekend here in Canada .. and I am in the middle of a job that not only has been dragging on and on and on .. but, has reach deadline and beyond. As such, I will be working tonight on this job, and the rest of the weekend.

The only thing is that this is the weekend that we normally put in the flowers in the front of our Condo .. // correction .. Yvonne normally puts the flowers in the front of our Condo! But, I do participate and help purchase them, carry them in, … in other words ..
