YOU KNOW WHEN ….

You know when you surf the internet and you come across a recipe of some sorts, and think… Hey! That sounds really great! I will try that! Well, that happened to me this morning – just before breakfast time

To make individual omelets, put 2-3 eggs in a quart-size ZipLoc bag along with bacon bits, cheese, salsa, or whatever you choose. Squeeze as much air as possible out, seal the top and put in boiling water for 15 minutes. Omelet will slide out easily.

Well .. here is what happened!

I Gathered The Ingredients

2 eggs
Large Freezer Ziploc Bag
Some onion
Some yellow pepper
Some cheese
Some Bacon Bits

Then I Did This!

I then combined them all in the ziploc bag and mixed it around. First, however, I broke the eggs in a separate bowl and mixed it with a fork before combining it into the ziploc bag.

Then Into Boiling Water

I had placed the ziploc bag after removing the air in it, into the boiling water for about 17 minutes actually.

It’s that weight watchers bread, so it looks smaller than it really is ../// um, actually scratch that – the bread REALLY IS that small! It’s only 1 point for those counting Weight Watcher points.

This Is What I Didn’t Eat!

Yup. Practically everything, except the toast – which, I put peanut butter on. YUCCH! THAT TASTED TERRIBLE!

WHAT WENT WRONG?

Admittedly, I probably should not have placed yellow, or any other peppers in the mix, because it just brought along too much water INSIDE the ziploc bag and it was having problems and didn’t cook properly. Perhaps, if I dice the peppers into smaller pieces and drain the juices it might have been better. The worse part of it is .. that as lousy as it tasted, my dogs would have loved to eat the leftovers, except it was buried deep in onions – which they hate! One sniff and they were turned off by it too

Realistically – next time I want an omelet – I just plan to pull out the frying pan and do it the NORMAL way.

During the XMAS holidays .. we had some guests over for a light dinner (and hopefully to help us get rid of some of those extra chocolates and candy on hand) and I casually (with great wit, I might add) mentioned something like this to one of the guests .. What’s it going to be, the Blue Pill? or the Red Pill?

Now, I was just referring to making my guests either a drink of Eggnog with Nutmeg powder sprinkled over it (non-alcohol) or, Cranberry Vodka with Orange Juice (alcohol). That’s when one of them asked me what I meant by that, and this is pretty much how that conversation went:

ME: So? What’s your poison? What’s it going to be, the Blue Pill? or the Red Pill?
HER: HUH?

ME: The Blue Pill? or the Red Pill? Blue Pill? That one? Red Pill? This one?
HER: HUH?

ME: You Know! The Blue Pill?? What’s it going to be Neo?
HER: HUH?

ME: Geeez Louweeeez… THE BLUE PILL? NEO? KEANU REEVES??????
HER: HUH?

ME: HEY! Can someone get your girlfriend out of my kitchen!!!!! AAaarrrrgh!
HER: HUH? What?

ME: THE MATRIX! THE MATRIX! WAS MY ACTING THAT BAD???
HER: Oh! The Matrix! That’s that movie, right? Was that some important scene in that movie?

ME: *sigh*
HER: Sorry! Geesh. It’s just that I didn’t see that movie.

ME: You didn’t – SEE – The Matrix? Which one?
HER: THere was more than one?

ME: YOU DIDN’T SEE THE MATRIX? It was quite popular you know.
HER: Oh .. I didn’t like it

ME: You didn’t like the Matrix? How can you not like it – if you didn’t see that movie?
HER: Oh. I rented the DVD once, and nearly got sick from the first 5 minutes. What a crock. It was so bad I had to just turn it off.

Today was Election Day here in Manitoba, Canada … and Gary Doer and the NDP was re-elected.

It was an interesting campaign for our neighbourhood, as our neighbourhood was considered one of the “Swing Vote” communities. Well – it was getting ridiculous with the phone calls and knocks on the door from polling our condo and area. Our NDP Candidate, Sharon Blady (I believe her father lives in our condo complex) and the NDP kept interupting me during dinner however. That pissed me off. So, one day – during a poll – the NDP pollers asked if “they can count on our vote” … and I told them that our house was a split vote .. my wife would probably WOULD vote for the NDP, but I wouldn’t. They asked me why. I said .. “Because the NDP is the only party that interupts me while I’m eating dinner!”

BIG MISTAKE

It was like the other parties found out that the NDP was calling our house a lot … but I could have sworn we were targeted for messages, pollers, quizes, information flyers and a lot of junk! I was outside one day, when a delivery flyer person came and put stuff into my mailbox .. and I shouted at him ..

“HEY YOU! CAN’T YOU READ? THAT SIGN SAYS NO FLYERS! NO FLYERS MEANS NO FLYERS!”

That person replied with .. “It’s okay, it’s just about the Election next Monday” ..

So – rather than engage in whitty banter with this delivery person, I looked at that junk mail and it was from the NDP – again! Geesh. Enough was enough.

So – this is how I voted:

SEE MY VOTE? I’m one of those 32 REJECTED! I spoiled my vote and put an “X” in BOTH the Liberal and PC boxes. I was pissed off that there were only 3 candidates and there was no independent or alternate political party.

There – I had my say today. I contributed to the downfall of Manitoba Economy! And .. I can complain about it too! Because well, I did NOT vote for the Premier Gary Doer .. nor, did I want anybody else to win … but at least I voted! I went out and voted today. And, I should say – we have a great polling station to vote in too. We vote at a senior citizen’s complex, and they always bake nice chocolate cookies and put out coffee for all of the voters!

The People of Manitoba (or rather, the portion of registered voters that actually went out and voted today) have spoken. Term 3 for Premier Gary Doer. Congratulations.

I am disappointed as well. You see, I work out of my house everyday (SOHO), and rarely have extra moments during the day to spend with my pet Papillon dogs. I can tell you, that they absolutely LIVE for the possibility of…

* A “car ride to Tim Hortons” for a TimBit!

We usually go to the Tim Hortons store at 3296 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba in my car .. me with my two best friends .. because it’s the closest to my home. They both look so cute looking out the window as I go through the drive-thru lane!

I usually order an extra large coffee, with double cream and a Chocolate Chip muffin for myself. For my pets, I usually just mention that I have “two doggies” in the car that want to say hello and love Timbits!

What usually happens, is that the teller at the window adds 2 plain (presumed day-old) Timbits in the bag N/C for each dog in the car.

Timbit is a well branded word in our household .. all I have to do is mention it, and my dogs instantly know that to mean a car ride through the Tim Hortons Drive-Thru for a treat!

But – that ended today . There was no TimBits in my bag with my Chocolate Chip Muffin order. I happened to point out to the girl at the window that there was no Timbits for the dogs. She left momentarily, and brought the day manager over .. who informed me that they ‘don’t give TimBits out anymore to pets in cars’.. (April 20, 2007 9:00′ish am CST)

Okay … I know you don’t HAVE to give out free Timbits out to dogs .. but, it’s a very good community thing and brings great goodwill to people like me and other pet owners that I know .. who come to your store and are loyal customers. We are also long-term customers! How many day-old Timbits do you throw out anyway? Is it a money issue?

I really don’t know what to do now – because .. I really really like Tim Hortons’ coffee. In fact, working out of my home each day, I also arrange to meet clients at the very same Tim Horton store for either lunch or coffee – without my dogs – and meet inside.

But, when you go against THE FAMILY (my dogs) you also go against me!

A day-manager at another Tim Hortons store once told me that it was an unwritten rule to give treats to the pets of customers that wants them .. and I have always admired Tim Hortons for doing that for Pet Lovers.

So what’s the scoop? Is Tim Hortons a Pet Friendly business or are you against pets? A lot of Pet Owners use the Drive-Thru and take their pets with them, strictly because they are unable to bring them into the restaurant.

MAN! I lost it this morning .. the header is my subject of the email that I finally sent to my Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Recently, it seems like there is almost 6 minutes every hour that my DSL seems to .. “wink” .. and pause and is not connected. This morning, around 7am .. it happened again, but on the 11th minute I was trying to call Technical Support to ask for assistance.

Here is what was happening … their ‘office’ doesn’t open until 9am on Saturdays .. and their message was somehow routing me towards their payment office (customer support), and because their office is closed .. I should come back later.

But – before the message was over – (technical support melding me in with their general customer support message) .. they added something like ..

“If there is anything else you need from us .. check out our website at www …”

GRRRRR! MY INTERNET IS DOWN. HOW CAN I CHECK YOU BOZOS OUT?

I finally got around to reading this “revelation” of news about what the new Star Trek movie will be about in 2008 .. Young Kirk and Young Spock? Will Finnigan be there too?

C’mon! I was really hoping for another Next Generation movie .. or, a Voyageur Reunion movie! I mean, William Shatner got his roast .. wasn’t that good enough for him? Do we really need another movie about the Rocket Man?

Shatner Leaks Trek XI Details

William Shatner revealed to SCI FI Wire that the upcoming 11th Star Trek movie will indeed, as rumored, deal with the early years of Capt. James T. Kirk and Spock—and that he will definitely appear in the movie if director J.J. Abrams can find a place to use him. Shatner, who originated the role of Kirk in the original Trek series and several subsequent films, said in an interview that he was invited to meet with Abrams (Mission: Impossible III), who is also co-writing the movie.

“I met with J.J., and they told me they would like me to be part of their film, but they have to write the role,” Shatner said in an interview.

As for the many rumors concerning the sequel’s story, Shatner said that Abrams will explore Kirk and Spock during their Starfleet Academy years. “Yes, we know the story is based on young Kirk,” Shatner said. Up until now, everyone connected with the film has maintained strict silence about the storyline, though rumors have run rampant that they concern Kirk and Spock’s first missions.

As for Shatner’s place in that storyline? “They need to figure out how to put the dead captain in with the young captain,” he said. “It’s a very complex, technical problem of how to write the character in, and I’m not sure how they will solve it.” It sounds as if Shatner may play an older version of Kirk.

Coincidentally, the Starfleet storyline is one Shatner is already working on for his latest Trek-based novels. “I’m writing with Gar and Judy Reeves-Stevens two books on the academy, with the young Kirk and the young Spock,” Shatner revealed. “We’ve submitted the first book to the publishers, and I think it will be out in the beginning of 2008. It’s got a working title of The Academy, but I don’t think that will stick.”

Meanwhile, Abrams told Entertainment Weekly that a draft of the Trek XI script is done and will be trimmed sometime soon. The sequel will be targeted, “on the one hand, for people who love Star Trek, the fix that they will get will be really satisfying,” Abrams told the magazine. “For people who’ve never seen it or know it vaguely, I think they will enjoy it equally, because the movie does not require you to know anything about Star Trek. I would actually prefer [that] people don’t know the series, because I feel like they will come to it with an open mind.” —Tara DiLullo Bennett

According to Yahoo News .. about 10,000 domains that were coming up for renewal in China was “lost” ..

because of the earthquake that cut undersea cables off the coast of Taiwan last month … Xinhua reported that full Internet service to and from China should be restored by Jan. 15 .

The news suggests that “Because the domain names are lost due to an act of God, enterprises and individuals involved may be appropriately compensated by the domain name server” … but that would sure suck if your business domain was scooped up because of this. What does compensation mean? The price of a domain renewal?

I know that it’s probably bad karma .. but are people buying Chinese domain names and then reselling them back to the businesses? And if so .. (YOU SICK INDIVIDUALS!) … where can I get a list? ;p

We received over 29cm of snow December 31st .. today we are preparing for round 2. According to the weather channel and local news shows .. we’re expected to receive 5-10cm before dinner tonight and 5-10cm of snow over night before morning. So, altogether they are expecting between 5cm and 15cm of snow.

You know .. they just barely finished cleaning the snow from the last time!

And you know what? We wouldn’t call it WINTERPEG if we didn’t get the Winter!

On December 31, 2006 .. my parents had a flight from Winnipeg to Vancouver, and then they were planning on connecting on a plane to Prince George BC and then drive to just west of Quesnel area I believe. They were assured by the Winnipeg International Airport … or rather the new James Richardson International Airport (they renamed our airport) …that the flights were not cancelled or delayed that day .. and despite 29cm of snow and many side streets being unpassable .. they believed them and never double checked.

They had been planning that trip for weeks, because they were also taking their dog Sammi directly in a Carry-On dog cage onto their plane and in fact, had been practicing how much tranquilizer to give him for the journey. The flight was for 2:30pm that day, and I was up since 8am shoveling snow trying to make that deadline. I did get them to the airport by 1:30pm .. and they never reached Prince George until after Midnight – BC Time (which is two hours earlier than here).

Well .. it was the New Year’s Eve day on the last winter snow fall and we had plans – so, it was in our best interest to shovel. However .. we live in a Condominium and I’m sorry .. but that’s what my Common Element fees are supposed to go! If I get snowed in tonight or tomorrow .. I’ll stay here and wait until they dig me out!

Of course, I work out of my home so it might be a blessing! My wife .. on the other hand, has to drive to work like the rest of the masses. If I have to shovel to dig a car out of a snow bank .. I’ll make the exception – for her!
