O.M.G. – Have You Tried This Yet?

What a great invention! I love these! My wife loves these! Our dogs loves these! Our cat hates it, but he doesn’t like people food – so, his opinion doesn’t count ~

I found these snacks very light, although a bit salty and a little greasy on the fingers if you are planning to eat them before you get home in the car – your steering wheel will get all oily! The product itself was almost like .. Hmm popcorn puffs? But, looking and tasting like baked peas!

I might be a little biased, because during our short PEA season here .. I’m at the highway stands every day getting a new batch of peas – until the season is over!

From The Company’s Website

<img src='http://callhart.com/crazy/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/snapea_ori_l.jpg' alt='snapea_ori_l.jpg' / align="right" hspace="15"/> SnapeaCrisps originate from high quality sun-dried peas. Using new and unique technology, we created the world’s first easily graspable, snow pea-shaped crisp!

We have come up with a product that is pleasing to the eye as well. In fact, although SnapeaCrisps are themselves peas, the product is innovative because it retains all the unique characteristics of the peas and, at the same time, removes the pet peeves traditionally associated with them.

This product contains 17% vegetable protein and 8% fiber that comes mostly from the skin of the peas. What’s more, SnapeaCrisps contain an abundance of vitamins, iron, and calcium. SnapeaCrisps deliver the pea’s natural nutrients in their entirety.
Snapea Original

There are two types of flavors that can be chosen according to one’s taste or the occasion. There is the Original, which has basic flavoring, and the Caesar that tastes like the popular salad. Along with carrots and celery sticks, the Original will not only go great with your favorite dip, but the dip will actually enhance the flavor of the crisps. Please give it a try.

Peas have been an important part of the human diet for approximately 8,000 years. In fact, remains of snow peas dating back to the New Stone Age (or around 4500 B.C.) have been found around a lake in Switzerland…in an Egyptian grave around the time of the pharaohs…and even in the ancient ruins of Troy. Peas have also been widely cultivated along the Mediterranean coast as well as in the area of Mesopotamia, and they continue to be an important agricultural crop influencing different cultures and their eating habits.

* You would *THINK* that this is a good thing … but I’m now 3 strikes out of 3 times eating this product. All other donuts that you buy at the drive thru DO NOT MELT on your hands or in the donut bag .. but the third swirling chocolate on top of this chocolate-buster melts and sticks to the paper bag they put it inside (that’s the Zorro swirl on the top that I’m talking about)

It’s very annoying, and today it finally happened – I got chocolate all over my clothes! It’s hard to multi-task driving in rush hour traffic, drinking coffee and trying to bite into these chocolate danishes while listening to the new CD that I just made the other day ..

They had a similar product last summer, which basically was a caramel version of this product – but, it did not melt on your fingers while eating it.

This is NO GOOD while you are driving ….I would NOT recommend it through the Drive Thru! Although, I suppose if they can put it in a better container for transport – like a box – then, taking a dozen of these home wouldn’t last too long

~~~~~~~~
Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate!
Tim Hortons Triple Chocolate Danish, Cookie, Muffin and the new Triple Chocolate Donut are all irresistibly chocolaty.
* The Triple Chocolate Donut is currently only available in Canada.
Mmmmm Yummy
We bought some Dill Plants at the Farmer’s Market a few Saturdays ago .. and basically, have been using it every day on everything. What you do, is cut off the leaves and keep them moist and place them in the freezer. And, everytime you have a salad or corn or sandwich or (insert anything here!) .. you just take out a stem and snip-snip it with scizzors and cut some Dill onto your salad. It has a great aroma and adds much-o flavour to our daily salads. With the top flower, we hung it upside down to dry first, and then placed it in a vase and it’s actually quite enjoyable to look at – or at least, it’s not a nuisance or overbearing with all the other flowers my wife has around the house!
(PS: It’s where the “A” appears on the above image that you can cut and sprinkle onto your salad)
call HART crazy .. but
This morning, at 7:00am, my wife noticed that her rear passenger side tire was flat. Naturally, as the good husband that I am, I not only allowed her to use my car for the day .. but I popped up the air in the tire with my Good Ole Pit Stop Air Compressor With Gauge at canadiantire.ca .. and took her car to get the tire repaired at Canadian Tire Automotive.
There was about a 30 minute wait so, I walked across the street to KFC/Taco Bell for lunch. I am currently signed up on the WeightWatchers.ca plan and am trying to keep track of points.
I know in “Flex Points” talk .. a hard shell Taco is 4 points.
But I couldn’t resist the crunchywrap taco … it is very yummy .. it’s basically a hard shell taco, wrapped and fried on the grill …. “Flex Points” = 12.5 points, according to Dottie’s Weight Loss Zone – Taco Bell – Points page
Plus I had 2 regular hard shell tacos … total 20.5 points for lunch ….
The tire repair cost me $19.89 CDN plus lunch. But, I think it was a fair trade today … my car was on “E”mpty, and my wife put $25.00 gas in the tank
I had the opportunity to have an Extra Large Coffee with Triple Cream today .. At Robin’s Donut’s downtown. I usually go to my local Tim Horton (“Tim’s”) for coffee every day, or at least almost every day .. which is just down the street from me. It is also next door to my bank and in front of my Postal Outlet. Unfortunately, my activity to both those venues are greater during Tax Time Periods, and not the Fall periods (off-season) … but this only makes my appreciate for a good cup of coffee even greater.
Tim Horton’s coffee is FAR BETTER than Robin’s Donuts ever was .. although, I still believe Robin’s Donuts had the better travel cup .. that didn’t burn your hand and required no cup holder sleeve.
And .. what’s with this Wiki link above? Did somebody buyout Robin’s Donuts? It’s common to see stores closing down right and left, but I don’t see them reopening under a new corporate name .. just vacant buildings.
It’s not that I don’t “GET IT” .. it’s really that .. well, I just don’t care.
I make the BEST DARN CHILI in the whole wide world! Well, it’s delicious anyway, and we like it. I posted the recipe in my personal website, so if you want a good chili recipe .. just click the link at the beginning of this blog entry. I just made another batch tonight that should last, on average, ten days. Of course, with Canadian Thanksgiving coming up this weekend and lots of Turkey leftovers, I broke up this week’s batch into several smaller containers and put it in the freezer for a rainy day.
We have joined WeightWatchers.ca and attend weekly meetings as we are getting into shape and losing weight.
I seem to be losing weight slowly and surely .. especially when there’s chili … This is my daily dinner:
* One Cup of my chili (4 Weight Watcher Points)
* Garden salad with: cucumbers, carrots, red peppers, green peppers, yellow peppers, orange peppers, 2 TBSP croutons, grated cheddar cheese, 2 TBSP ‘Blue Menu’ low fat Caesar dressing, and grated parmesan cheese (4 Weight Watcher Points)
* TOTAL: 8 points .. with Water as my drink.
This usually either fills me up completely, or leaves me with enough points to have Chocolate Ice Cream, or other fabulous desserts and snacks after supper
Blue Licorice Ice Cream is the greatest Flavor of Ice Cream in the world.
The only thing is, that only one of my favorite sub restaurants carry it, and not my favorite ice cream parlors. In cases that there is NO Blue Licorice Ice Cream, I will then choose the following flavors, in this particular ‘picking’ order.
* Cotton Candy
* Cookies and Cream
* Rollo
* Chocolate Chip
* Chocolate Marshmallow
I also prefer Sugar Cones for single scoops, but usually opt for the waffle cones for double scoops – if it’s home made waffle cones on the premise.
I don’t know why there seems to be a world-wide Blue Licorice Ice Cream Shortage because I know it exists .. Vendors are just not carrying it, because it probably isn’t too popular. However, if we band together and ASK for it everytime we go to an ice cream parlor (even if we don’t want a Blue Licorice Ice Cream Cone) .. maybe the Owner will start to carry it?
Just a thought.
