@stevie69ful well, lots of them oscar peterson, keith jarret steevi ray vaughn, hell even eric clapton, paul maccartney, most people down to earth you can talk to, and lets face it, some of prince record sound horrible, that cheesy 80s music, recorded with cheap synthe and sound like music from a bad porn, no medical devloppement, no nothing,
he did do improve, but people putting it on a pedestal, yark, his head is so fucking big he thinks hes gonna convert the world to his stupid religion

ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD January 18, 2012 at 7:37 am

Hey Hohner….A Prince Signature Telecaster is in order here! Come on, negotiate the deal.

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 3:43 pm

@lapmarty Opinions. Your opinion. How do U rank or rate a musician better or worse than another musician? U obviously, have not listened 2 All of Prince’s work. In the studio, on stage, work he’s written 4 other artists, work recorded by other artists, etc. Cheesy ’80’s music? I love the music written & recorded in the 1980’s. Cheap synthe? He was trying 2 create a different sound. A different sound from a black musician. Music from bad porn? U really R very judgemental of Prince.

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 3:56 pm

@lapmarty Of course, I’m not surprised. People, for decades, have been Hating on Prince. Prejudging & judging his every step, every move. Artists can’t please everybody. There will always be Haters. All I can say is, Please give him a chance. Because Prince has a lot 2 offer music fans. He’s a lover of all genres of music & U’ll hear alot of fusion of those many different styles. And during his (& our)musical quest, U’ll hear every now & then an original Prince gem. : )

lapmarty January 18, 2012 at 3:57 pm

@stevie69ful i didnt judge all his material, as i said, there is lot of musician way better, and the core of the debate were guitar skill, as some people said he was in the top 3 guitar player ever wich is ridiculous,
How do U rank or rate a musician better or worse than another musician? many ways,
when we talk about a instrument (the case here) guitar, Virtuoso, are almost exclusivly profecient in their instrument Vai, emmanuell, malmsteen, vaughn, Gilbert, etc, sorry not prince,

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 3:58 pm

@lapmarty And I know if Prince was white, he’d get a lot more

lapmarty January 18, 2012 at 4:00 pm

@stevie69ful my interrest here the guitar debate, i dont like pop, i dont like dancing music, funk or anything that sole purposes is to be a soundtrack to something else, i like music that stand for itself, seeing a little man, doing nasty thing, nasty noise, like he always got a dick in is ass or wanna fuck evryone,is just not for me,
but hey as i said, im sure in this kind of music, he is great, his just not a guitar virtuoso, as he played many instrument well, but not to the virtuoso level

lapmarty January 18, 2012 at 4:04 pm

@stevie69ful and by virtuoso i mean, in the classical way, being able to go trought jazz fusion, to classical music, and all in beetween, prince can play a good guitar but most of his solo, are pentatonic scale, bending, wha wha, and nothing really original on the instrument in fact he sound a lot like hendrix on the guitar, wich i know is consider as a virtuoso, but it was for the innovation as many jazz guitar player of that time were better then hendrix technicly,

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 4:25 pm

@stevie69ful fan support & less Haters. Prince has stayed strong, courageous & fearless during his Hall of Fame career. He’s not doing the typical, mainstream black music. He’s definitely doing music outside of the “black” mainstream box. And I love him even more because of that fact. But since he is outside the music industry box, there R more Haters. Prince should’ve been as successful as Madonna but he’s not white or tall. He’s more talented but its hard 4 Blacks 2 Blow Up like

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 4:33 pm

@stevie69ful white artists. I still don’t see many Black artists getting the respect they’re due. It’s always The Beatles, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Elton John & it takes a long time before I hear or see Black artists mentioned like James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson & of course Prince.

Howage1 January 18, 2012 at 6:08 pm

I don’t think Prince ages at all, is he even human?

stevie69ful January 18, 2012 at 9:15 pm

@lapmarty I know Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Vai but Prince is more than just a great guitarist. He’s a great 1 man band, smooth balladeer, funky rock star, soulful r&b man & still much more. I don’t understand why U R wasting your time talking about who is a worthy guitarist or not. Just enjoy the music. If U don’t, then that’s kool too. But 2 judge & hate on others is a waste of time & energy. I’m sorry U don’t like or appreciate Prince’s talents. Too bad 4 U. : (

safenders January 19, 2012 at 2:00 am

@stevie69ful I am a huge fan of guitar. I have been playing for over 13 years. I know guitars inside and out. I can build them and play them. I know many amazing guitarists. Some in person and some from listening to there music in concert or on the radio etc. I would like to say you are right. If you are a fan a of music or a certain musician it does no good to talk trash. I hated prince till I heard him play guitar after that I totally knew why so many people liked his music.

safenders January 19, 2012 at 2:11 am

@lapmarty Sorry to jump in but I think you missed the main point of music. That would be the emotion that an artist can convey to an audience. Technical ability is great and impressive. However it in my opinion as a Lover of music first and a Guitarist second, it is much more impressive when someone’s music makes me feel something. For example four power chords played in the right context can often times be much more moving than the fastest or most difficult run or scale or arpeggio.

safenders January 19, 2012 at 2:18 am

@stevie69ful I know some black artist it is true they do not get a lot of recognition. However most of the black artists you named are always getting recognition. For example look at almost any list of top guitarists you almost always find Jimi Hendrix. The Beatles get more credit than they deserve. I think artists like John Lee Hooker,Chet Atkins are more likely to be ignored. The list you gave in my opinion get tons of credit as much as their white counter parts

lapmarty January 19, 2012 at 4:48 am

@safenders you miss the point, sure i agree but a guitar virtuoso can do both, he can do fast incredible runs and jazz, classical lick, blues, etc, we are not talking about te music here, but the guitarist, and prince isnt a virtuoso, hes good, but hes guitar playing is almost a copycat of hendrix,

sampson3121 January 19, 2012 at 5:31 am

@lapmarty Hendrix? the only thing he has in common with Hendrix is hes black lol.
Santana would be a better comparison.
and he is way more versatile than both of them. people that don’t know music always compare him to Hendrix….listen instead of watching dude!

sampson3121 January 19, 2012 at 5:37 am

@stevie69ful Don’t forget slash and that lead guitarist from Metalica!

lapmarty January 19, 2012 at 5:54 am

@sampson3121 look buddy, the debate here was he was in the 3 top guitar player ever this is the only reason i jump in, he is not,
as for not knowing him, iv been playing music, guitar bass and piano for 30 of my 34 yers,
prince solo, are primitive, mainly base on pentatonic, with lots of winning, bending, and what i called sound effect rather then melodic devlopment,
i dont care about your opinion, you say i dont know music, while for a start i put video on showing i do, in your case, none,

godforgottenplace January 20, 2012 at 8:51 am

at 4:10 great babe solo

governorgilf January 21, 2012 at 1:51 am

You can’t compare Prince’s chops to Vai or other virtuosos. He’s not in that realm, but he knows guitar as well as them. Vai has always said he’d love to jam with Prince. I would pay big money to see that! Prince is probably the most complete musician and talent this planet has ever seen. He’s mastered many instruments, he’s a great composer, arranger, producer, performer, dancer, businessman, singer, lyricist….have I forgotten anything? He’s a genius.

bitethis47 January 21, 2012 at 6:13 am

the guitar is almost as big as him..:P

OZRIC1985 January 22, 2012 at 12:58 am
