David Attenborough presents the amazing lyre bird, which mimics the calls of other birds – and chainsaws and camera shutters – in this video clip from The Life of Birds. This clever creature is one of the most impressive and funny in nature, with unbelievable sounds to match the beautiful pictures. From the BBC.

it is sad that he knows all too well the sound of a camera shutter and a chainsaw, but gotta give props to the most creative song in the jungle. One thing i wonger, if the object to finding a mate is to make up the most complex song he can by imitating sounds around him, how does the female lyre bird know that it is a male and not some other bird?

@Peppi94 it’s not difficult and it’s free –
1. d/l firefox
2. install adblock

Takes 5 minutes but worth it!

That high pitch part after 0:56 sounds like changing the radio station on an old radio

@shinosladybirdbeetle I suppose that’s what the massive tail would be for, it stands out pretty well so it would be kinda hard to miss

Wait, so this isn’t an April fools video? It would seem like the perfect video for it if it was fake.

WHAT AN EPIC BIRD!!!! :D
if it isn’t a rare bird, I’d have it… to imitate something like dogs, and alarms. Or funny things like a telephone tune! Well, its best if it stays in the forest tho :P
