Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes … it’s a catchy song, and the entire DVD was a really enjoyable MUSICAL that we watched last weekend. The plot is as follows:

“This film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning rock opera tells the story of one year in the life of a group of bohemians struggling in modern day East Village New York. The story centers around Mark (Anthony Rapp) and Roger (Adam Pascal), two roommates. While a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life in one truly powerful story. Rosario Dawson, Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Tracie Thoms, and Taye Diggs also star.”

Personally, I even enjoyed the BONUS DVD about the making of the movie RENT .. There are many things that were interesting. For instance, Jonathon Larson had a mild heart attack (probably) just a few days before and was mis-diagnosed by his doctor .. he died of a massive heart attack just before opening of this broadway show alone in his apartment making tea. Everybody from the original broadway musical (except two) is back in their original roles .. and I’m glad Rosario Dawson (who I will always remember as one of the Josie and the Pussycats!, oh and Men In Black II) was added to the cast.

I would recommend that you don’t just rent this DVD .. buy it and keep it in your permanent collection - it’s a keeper.
