New name for Winnipeg’s airport

Winnipeg International Airport will now bear the name of a Canadian aviation pioneer.
As of Sunday, it will be known as the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.Justice Minister and Provencher MP Vic Toews was on hand for the announcement….

Richardson founded Western Canada Airways in 1926. His carrier was the first national carrier to fly out of Stevenson airfield, which later would become Winnipeg International Airport.
