Canada Postage Rates Gone Up Again

call HART crazy … but

Sometime around Mid-November, I ran out of postage and had a stack of letters to mail. I did. While I was at the local post office, I not only paid for the postage needed for the envelopes I had, but I also got $20.00 plus taxes worth of$0.50 cent stamps - you know the ones .. the peel & stick ones.

Well, since Mid-November, I haven’t really had any letters to post .. but since about early January 2006 I have had at least a few each week and yesterday, had 12 brand new letters to post - one of them a larger envelope, needing lots of postage. So, I figure I may as well mail them all today. I counted them, and had 27 letters to post of which 2 were fair sized and heavy. I wasn’t quite sure if I put enough postage on the letter, but generally I would rather put more postage on than is needed “just in case”.

So, I have 27 letters in hand, and walk into the post office. No one is there at the counter (good!). I ask the nice lady that I always take my ‘postage’ business to, and said

… these were all posted but I would like to double check and see if both of these larger envelopes has enough postage on them!

And that’s when she said ..

“I’m Sorry Sir .. Rates are now $.51 each. You need an additional 1 cent stamp on each of these letters.

YOU KNOW - it just did not occur to me that rates have gone up! Was it in the news? Was there an announcement? The only thing that I could think of was .. THOSE BASTARDS

And, then some guy that came into line, and was eavesdropping noticed that I had two 50 cent stamps on a letter to USA … and made a scene .. telling me that under no condition should I give those commy bastard liberals another penny over and above what is due on that letter.

I just replied ..

… uh, yah .. thanks - but, no thanks - that’s okay.

And after I moved to the side and licked 28 bloody little one cent stamps and slapped them on 28 of my letters … I left the Post Office and went to Tim Horton’s

By the way .. the new rates are … HERE

What do you think?
