DO I CARE?

I am a firm believer of the old saying … “You Get What You Pay For”. The only thing is that with our Canadian Politics, it seems to be a fine line with “You Get What You Deserve” as well.

I never liked Paul Martin, in fact I was quite pissed when he took over. Actually, I wasn’t pissed that he took over .. somebody had to take over from Prime Minister Chretien in 2003, or The Rt Hon. Joseph Jacques Jean Chrétien his friends call him.

IT WAS THAT HE TOOK OVER THE OFFICE DECEMBER 12, 2003 AND WAS SWORN IN AS PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA THAT PISSED ME OFF. I mean .. I never voted for him as Prime Minister .. In fact – I don’t recall anybody telling me there was an election at all! I don’t care how politics work or can be explained here in Canada – in my mind he had no right to be calling himself “Prime Minister of Canada”.

No – he could have called himself Prime Minister in Waiting or something like that.

But as Pissed off as I was .. it wasn’t until he started making Laws and Changing Goverment policies that REALLY PISSED ME OFF.

But .. Thank God for the Election June 28, 2004 .. at least Canada gets a CHANCE to vote for their government leader this time..

OH CRAP .. They Elected him this time?? Oh well. I guess that’s what I was talking about in all my years … Canada got what they wanted! I did my duty and voted.

But, what did these 2004 elections give us? Prime Minister Paul Martin. 43.8% of the seats available (minority government) and 36.7% of the popular vote. Apparently, there were only 60.5% of the eligible voters who actually came out to vote .. simple math dictates only 22% of eligible Canadian Voters had voted for Liberal. In converse, 38% didn’t vote for Liberal.

HERE’S MY CONCLUSION: Since 40% of Eligible Canadian Voters didn’t vote at all – THAT makes a Majority .. there should have been NO goverment in Canada for 4 years … or until 2008.

Who needs an election every year? I don’t.

For all you other Canadians who don’t want another Liberal Government:

* Please don’t put down the government, unless you vote for a government
* Just because you hate Harper and his party, please don’t spoil your vote, and especially
* Please don’t vote for Liberal just because there is nothing better !!
