Her Excellency
We were blessed this week by a visit from the new Governor General, who blew into the heartland to mingle with the peasants. She touched everyone’s heart by kissing babies, waxing vaguely on mom and apple pie issues, and generally putting on a show like she’s just one of us. Madame, you may be a lot of things, but one thing I will guarantee, you are not one of us.
Your entire working life seems to be involved with universities, government or the CBC. Although teaching is a noble profession and working as a reporter for CBC could be and probably is an interesting occupation, I’m afraid that neither position has exposed you to the daily grind of the average Canadian, who struggles to pay the mortgage, educate and raise kids etc, etc.
The CBC is a crown corporation which survives not on business savvy, but on government handouts, and then becomes a hand puppet of the government. It is Canada’s version of the old Soviet Unions “Pravda”. ….Spending the majority of your working life involved in such an outfit, with it’s bloated spending habits, does not expose one to normal business practices or any measure of restraint. This was clearly demonstrated by your predecessor, aka the pompous old troll. I sincerely doubt that you will be as hateful as her, but I am also sure that you cannot see the world from the perspective of the average Canadian.
Let me think now…… your married to a documentary film maker…..how many documentary film makers do I know? ……..Surprise, none. You worked as a news anchor for Radio Canada….surely I must have one of them in my circle of acquaintances…… no ,wrong again. It would appear Madame Jean that we do not run on the same track. But who better to appoint to a position that holds no value to Canadians, and is representative of successive governments that hold no accountability to Canadians. Someday I would like to see the purse strings controlled by an individual who has some idea of the actual value of a dollar. Then maybe positions such as this would be eliminated.
Am I the last bastion of rational thought in the free world? I thought so.

What do you think?
