Blue Licorice Ice Cream is the greatest Flavor of Ice Cream in the world.
The only thing is, that only one of my favorite sub restaurants carry it, and not my favorite ice cream parlors. In cases that there is NO Blue Licorice Ice Cream, I will then choose the following flavors, in this particular ‘picking’ order.
* Cotton Candy
* Cookies and Cream
* Rollo
* Chocolate Chip
* Chocolate Marshmallow
I also prefer Sugar Cones for single scoops, but usually opt for the waffle cones for double scoops – if it’s home made waffle cones on the premise.
I don’t know why there seems to be a world-wide Blue Licorice Ice Cream Shortage because I know it exists .. Vendors are just not carrying it, because it probably isn’t too popular. However, if we band together and ASK for it everytime we go to an ice cream parlor (even if we don’t want a Blue Licorice Ice Cream Cone) .. maybe the Owner will start to carry it?
Just a thought.

I am in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
It’s so true about few people knowing about blue licorice ice cream .. they easily think of black licorice (never red licorice which is strange) and at Laura Secord or any “good” ice cream place with a lot of selections .. seem to think that blue bubble gum ice cream can possibly be an alternative to blue licorice ice cream.

Ah…I should have known you were in Winnipeg. That is my hometown, and Grand Beach was where I always got my blue licorice ice cream. You used to be able to get it at The Forks as well, but I’m not sure if you can anymore. Last time I was there was 2006, and I came up empty-handed at The Forks, but got some at the beach!!

Does ANYONE know if you can find blue licorice outside of Manitoba??
Hi Darryl. I have been really having hard luck finding it – although, last year “Zesto’s” on Portage (Westwood) had it. My favorite place Sargent Sundae .. well, I’ve been switching to Cotton Candy and that “Kids” flavors .. It’s an alternative .. when I go there, I keep asking for blue licorice, in case one day they ask their staff “What flavors are they asking for?”.
